Aangan Terha

Aangan Terha was a satirical Pakistani television serial presented by the PTV network in the late 1980s. The show starred Salim Nasir, Shakeel, Arshad Mehmood, Durdana Butt and Bushra Ansari in lead roles, was directed by Qaiser Farooq and written by Anwar Maqsood.

Ideology

The Drama is based on many stories on multiple issues of the society and indirect criticism on the Martial LAW and the electoral system. Many Major Pakistani stars and artists played guest roles including the great comedians like Lehri, Late Moin Akhtar and Mehmood Ali. The twist occurs when the writer Anwar Maqsood appears near the end of the serial to inform the characters that the serial is about to end.

Shakeel

Shakeel, born as Yousuf Kamal (born 29 May 1943, Bhopal), is a Pakistani television actor best known for his roles in Uncle Urfi and Mehboob Ahmed in Aangan Terha. He has also acted in a number of local films as well as an English film, Jinnah and Traffic Serial for BBC Channel-4. He is also known for his philanthropic activities.

Background

Shakeel and his family migrated to Karachi, Pakistan in 1952.[1] He was born as Yusuf Kamal in Bhopal, British India.[3]
He received his primary education from an English medium school in prepartition India and a French missionary school in India.[2]

He was honored with Pakistan’s highest achievement award in the field of acting,’The President’s Pride of Performance Award’.

Death

At the age of 45 years, Nasir suffered a heart attack on 24 September 1989. On Thursday, October 19 he experienced signs of extreme heart congestion around noon. He was rushed to hospital but expired before any medical treatment could be provided.atilesTV Times
