Talat Hussain

Syed Talat Hussain Naqvi (Urdu: سید طلعت حسین نقوی) is a Pakistani journalist, foreign policy commentator and television personality. He is the primary anchor, as well as executive producer, of the current affairs show Live with Talat which is primary on air by the Express News. Before, he has been an executive director of AAJ Television[1] and had also worked for PTV and Dawn News. He has written for Newsline, Daily Dawn, Time Magazine, Daily Times (Pakistan), Daily Express and occasionally contributed to India Today.


Early career 
In the late 1990s, Hussain ran the morning news show Sawaray Sawaray on PTV. Later, after the opening of PTV World, he started another program called News Night. 
He established ARY’s Islamabad office and headed the team that launched PTV World News. He has held key positions of Director, News & Current Affairs with Pakistan Television Corporation,Prime Television (UK) and Telebiz. he was Director News at Aaj TV and also write occasionally for Daily Express, an Urdu newspapers since July 2008. Currently he is working in express news and still working there

Gaza flotilla raid 
On the 30th of May 2010, Hussain was aboard the convoy amid conflict during the Gaza flotilla raid. Due to loss of communications, Hussain’s status and whereabouts were unknown for a while, and a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated “the Government of Pakistan is seriously concerned over the well-being and whereabouts of the Pakistani citizens and media personnel including Syed Talat Hussain and Raza Mahmood Agha (both of them from AAJ Television) who were on board the Flotilla bound for Gaza. The Foreign Ministry is in constant touch with itsmissions in the region to ascertain the well-being of our nationals.”[2] On June 1, 2010 Hussain was finally released through King Abdullah II of Jordan and returned to Karachi via Dubai.

Shoaib Mansoor

Shoaib Mansoor, (Urdu: شعیب منصور‎; born August 19, 19??;PP, SI) is a Pakistani television and film director, producer, writer, lyricist and music composer. Active in the television industry since 1980, he founded his first success for introducing the world acclaim musical act, Vital Signs in the mainstream television after composing and writing the song, Dil Dil Pakistan, in 1987 as well as directing many critically praised drama-hit series in the country’s television.
He became internationally known and popular for directing the 1982 classic Ankahi and class comedy series, Fifty Fifty (1980), and the military fiction series, Alpha Bravo Charlie (1998). Mansoor found further critical acclaim for his musical writings songs for Vital Signs in 1990s, and introduced the band nationwide. A versatile artist, he became popular and respected film director after the release of critically acclaimed, Khuda Kay Liye (2007) and Bol (2011). Mansoor won many awards for his work, and is an honorary recipient of state honor, Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

Career

A native of Karachi, Shoaib Mansoor or ShoMan (as he calls himself) is among the most influential and famous figures in the Pakistan showbiz scene.[citation needed] He has written, produced and directed hit TV shows such as Ankahi, Fifty Fifty, Alpha Bravo Charlie, Sunehre Din and Gulls & Guys, which aired on Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV).
Shoaib Mansoor has also been a successful songwriter and music composer and, in the 1980s, introduced the then-pop sensation Vital Signs to the mainstream.[1] Besides being Junaid Jamshed‘s mentor, he was the backbone for his songs and composed and produced most of the Vital Signs’ albums.[1] Between 2001 and 2003, he directed the Ishq Mohabbat Apna Pan series of songs picturized on Iman Ali and Rasheed Naz.
He wrote and composed a number of their hit numbers such as Aitebar. In addition, he directed all Vital Signs videos, producing a music video compilation and movie titled Geetar ’93.
In 2007, Shoaib Mansoor debuted as a film director with the critically acclaimed film, Khuda Ke Liye released on 20 July 2007 all over Pakistan. It received the Silver Pyramid Award from the Cairo International Film Festival for 2007.[2]
In 2009, he began directing a big budget film Bol which had Atif Aslam, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick and Iman Ali playing lead roles. The premiere was on 24 June 2011.[3]

Obaidullah Baig

Obaidullah Baig (October 1, 1936 – June 22, 2012)(Urdu: عبيدالله بيگ‎) was an eminent scholar, Urdu writer/novelist, columnist, media expert, and most notably a documentary filmmaker from Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.[1] Born in Rampur, India in 1936, Obaidullah Baig migrated to Karachi with his family in the early ’50s following independence of Pakistan in 1947, and settled in Karachi, Pakistan]].
 
 Obaidullah Baig teamed up with Iftikhar Arif in 1970s and then with Ghazi Salahuddin in 1990s and won renown for the famous [[Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) quiz show Kasauti. He also appeared on a similar program called Kasauti: Master Mind. The program was conducted by the original host of Kasauti, Quraish Pur. His wife, Salma Baig was also a renowned face on PTV for hosting programs in the past and for her participation in the educational sector.
 
Obaidullah Baig has three daughters. Obaidullah Baig’s eldest daughter is Maryam Obaidullah Baig, working and studying in the United States. She is a visual artist and also a theatre actor. She is following her father’s footsteps by making films as well. His second daughter is Fatima Adarsh, who is married to T.V actor Adarsh Ayaz and works for Pakistani news channels. Obaidullah Baig’s youngest daughter Amina Baig works for The News International.
Obaidullah Baig was awarded Pride of Performance (August 14, 2008) by the President of Pakistan for his services to Pakistani media.

Death

Baig died on June 22, 2012 in Karachi.[2]
